ABOUT

Portrait of artist Catherine Ruth Church in her studio

Catherine works on canvas with household paint, spray paint, oils, acrylics, pearlised paint, and pencil in her studio near Twyford, Hampshire. She takes her inspiration from flowers, plants and natural forms.

The playful titles of her paintings reflect the fun she has whilst working: Sweetie Flowers, Gold Spot Flowers, Dolly Mixture Flowers, Graffiti Flowers, and Jelly Bean Flowers!

Her flower paintings are in collections all over the world. They are joyful, life-affirming, richly detailed and endlessly fascinating. There is much to discover in the complex tangles of pattern, texture and bold colour. She lives with her husband, who also frames her work, and her teenage son in Winchester, UK.

Catherine regularly completes commissioned work for commercial clients, private clients and interior designers. Find out more about commissions here.

“I paint because it makes me unbelievably happy. Everything makes me happy when I’m painting; I love it. I love how I feel when I paint, how it relaxes me, how I can get into a zone and block everything else out.”

KIND WORDS

“I love Cath’s work, her paintings bring a field of shape and form to our walls, her use of colour pops! No-one paints a ring or circle like she does. It’s easy to stare at one of her paintings wishing she’s been inspired by the garden you wish you had, pure joy!”
